Beatriz Freire

Bio

Beatriz is an articling student who recently received her J.D. from the University of Ottawa. Prior to law school, Beatriz completed her undergraduate studies in Political Science with Honours at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax. She is also fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

Growing up in South America during times of political unrest, Beatriz is passionate about the rule of law, advocating for others, and justice. During law school, Beatriz worked as a caseworker for uOttawa’s Community Legal Clinic, assisting vulnerable community members handle their family law matters. This experience instilled in her to think client-first, and advocate strongly for clients’ interests.

Beatriz spent her final years in law school contributing to the launch of uOttawa’s Lands and Consultation Hub. A first of-its-kind resource centre developed to provide First Nations in Ontario with free legal resources, specifically on the law of consultation.

Beatriz is interested in Public, Administrative and Regulatory law.

Outside of work, Beatriz enjoys trying new foods, swimming, and reading. She also enjoys visiting theme parks (admittedly too often).
