Tom Conway Appointed Chair of College of Patent and Trademark Agents

News Item

We are delighted to announce that the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development has appointed our colleague, Tom Conway, as the first Chair of the Board of Directors of the newly-created College of Patent and Trademark Agents.

As part of its intellectual property strategy to make Canada a leader in generating and strategically leveraging IP investments, the Government of Canada established the College in 2018. The Board of Directors will help lay the foundation for the College and ensure that a robust, public interest–minded body oversees intellectual property agents in Canada.

As a former Treasurer of the Law Society of Ontario and as a past president of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada, Tom will bring his experience in professional regulation to the governance of the new College.

Although this appointment is a new and important responsibility, Tom will continue to practice full-time and to advocate and advance the causes of the firm’s clients. Click here to learn more about Tom.
