Bio

Mélanie is passionate about advocating for others. Initially visualizing herself as a journalist, Mélanie found an affinity for law in her first year of university, prompting her to change course and obtain a BA in Law and Legal Studies at Carleton University. During that time, she discovered a zeal for oral advocacy and participated in many undergraduate moot competitions, winning a few prizes for the Carleton team.

In law school, Mélanie pursued this interest by participating in (and winning!) the 2024 Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Law Moot. She also completed a Joint Placement with Community Legal Services Ottawa, and was a Technoship Fellow at the University of Ottawa Centre for Law, Technology and Society.

When she is not at work, Mélanie enjoys hiking, backpacking, and kayaking. She can also be found trying her hand at a wide array of art mediums, and is currently dabbling in oil painting
